Reflective cards · After a client session
Take a moment with the card drawn for you.
A card has been chosen for you at random. Before you move on to the next thing, sit with the question and the image, and notice what they stir in you.
Your question
How to sit with your card
Pause
Find a few quiet minutes, ideally soon after the session while it's still fresh.
Look
Let the question and the image work on you. There's no need to answer straight away.
Notice
What does it stir? A thought, a feeling, a moment in the session you hadn't noticed.
Write
Put down whatever comes, without editing or judging it.
An invitation to journal
Writing slows thinking down enough to notice what sits underneath it. A notebook and a pen are all you need; nothing on this page is saved or sent anywhere.
Come back to what you wrote in a few days, or bring it to supervision.
You might begin with:
- What stays with me from this session is…
- The moment I keep coming back to is…
- What I noticed in myself was…
- What I might do differently is…
- What I'd like to bring to supervision is…
Going further
Reflection goes deeper with someone alongside you.
Supervision is a space to take what the cards stir and explore it together, with care and without judgement.
